The Taraskas have invited us to begin our new year with a swimming party at their home on Sunday, August 24th. We will meet at the church at 1:00 p.m., and transport everyone to the Taraskas' home on church vans. The party will last until 4:00 p.m., so everyone will be able to attend UMYF in the youth building!
THE TOUR DESTINATION FOR 2009 WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THIS PARTY!! (Hint: You're gonna be excited! We have NEVER gone there before!)
We are going to try something different with our rehearsal schedule during the new year. Many of our choir members and choir member prospects have school schedules which make it difficult or impossible to attend our regular Monday afternoon rehearsals. So this year we are going to offer an ALTERNATE rehearsal on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m.
Our REGULAR rehearsal will still be held on Mondays from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m. But if you cannot attend that regular rehearsal, you may come to the Sunday rehearsal instead.
Our first Monday rehearsal will be held on Monday, August 25th at 4:00 p.m. Because of the Labor Day holiday, our first ALTERNATE Sunday rehearsal will be held on Sunday, September 7 at 4:00 p.m. After that date, the new Sunday or Monday rehearsal schedule will begin.
In a little less than seven hours, we will be arriving at St. Luke's at the end of our thirteenth tour. We are all VERY tired and most of us are sporting very fashionable sunburns (my own legs have never been so red) after yesterday's rafting adventure. But our hearts are full, and our bond is strong. God has indeed filled our cup beyond expectation during our journey together.
We look forward to seeing you all at 3:00 p.m.! And when we arrive home (not the parking lot, but HOME), encourage us to tell you about the God moments we experienced, as well as the other stuff that is easier to talk about.
Last night's concert at State St. UMC in Bristol was one of our best, despite the fact that we spent the better part of our day on rafts in the Nolichucky River. How our youth found the energy to sing so well last night is a mystery whose answer is known only to God! We certainly felt His Spirit as we sang.
Pictures of this concert will be posted within a couple of days! Please keep checking our website.
